Camera Bag Insert

I have been wanting to find a camera bag that doesn’t look like a camera bag.
You know what I mean? Some look like big coolers, some scream I HAVE A CAMERA IN HERE.
I just wanted a tote bag really that would hold my stuff.
And I wanted it to be cute. That's important.
So here is what I came up with.

I needed it for my trip so I put together this insert rather fast. I already had the tote bag. My sewing lines might not be straight and I have a few adjustments I’d like to make but I think it came out rather well.

I had the fabric too and just needed some foam and velcro. It’s the iron on velcro. It works really well. Oh and I used some cardboard on the bottom for some stability.

The padded dividers are sewn so they fold down to cover the top. That is part of the adjusting I need to do. They need to be a bit longer I think.

It has pockets all the way around so I can stick my cleaning pen, filter case or lens cap in there.

This tote has pockets on it’s own so it holds a lot of stuff. That I like.

But I had originally made it to try to use it for this new bag I bought. Isn’t it cute? Very summery. It just didn’t fit right.  Since it closes with a snap and not a zipper it wasn’t staying shut. I need to come up with something smaller for this purse.

I’m sorry I didn’t put together a tutorial. I was doing this at 11:00 the night before my trip! I have got to stop waiting til the last minute! I will put something together for my next one if anyone is interested in it. Otherwise, here is a tutorial I found online that helped me along from LilBlueBoo

I made a few adjustments for what I needed. Like the size, dividers and I didn’t use cardboard all around as I wanted it to conform more to the bag. I didn’t use the spray adhesive because it was so late and I was getting blurry-eyed. I think I will next time.  I thought her instructions were great. Very easy to follow. Thanks Ashley!

ps. The book was a gift from son #3 for Mother's Day. It's full of tons of information and a perfect size to stash in your bag. I have another book by the same author and he explains things so it's easy to understand.

My New Toy

It’s so very quiet around here once again now that all my visitors have gone home. I’ve been playing around with my new toy that Santa brought me. I must have been very good this year. He brought me the Canon T2i. It has a fabulous lcd screen that allows half blind people like me to see the picture you are taking. I can even take amazing videos.

I have a lot to learn with this little baby but it will be fun.  I have not used the auto button. Well, maybe once just to see if it worked. But I will not use it again. I will learn to use the manual setting if it kills me. So, I may take a lot of crappy pictures at first. Just bare with me. I have my son and all my wonderful photog friends to guide me. So guide away. I love input. I am going to start with reading this book which came recommended my Maureen @ Cottage 960. She has learned a lot this past year and has really inspired me. You should go visit her flickr stream and see all the talent she has.

I still would like to get a book on the camera itself. Something other then the manual it came with. Tracy @ Tracy’s Trinkets and Treasures recommended the T2i book for Dummies. That sounds fitting for me since I’m so new at this. Tracy is learning her new camera also. She is way ahead of me though. She even started another blog for her photography, Treasured Moments.

On another note. I have been trying to use Live Writer to write my blog posts. I kept hearing how much easier it is. I have windows xp so I don’t know if that makes a difference but the enter or return key seems wonky when I’m on live writer. Like it has a mind of it’s own. It’s fine when I’m writing a paragraph like this but once I start inserting stuff and then hit enter the cursor seems to go where it wants to. Has anyone else had this problem? Mostly my spacing seems off. It’s hard to move my paragraphs around. I can’t just backspace to remove the extra space between the photo and the paragraph. I will keep at it and see if I can work out the kinks. There a lot more positives that out weigh this little quirk.

I have some pesky chores to do around the house today, pay bills and such. Nothing too important ;) Then I can get back to fiddling with my new sidekick.

see ya,
Anita
