Empty Nest

It's quiet around here.

We helped son #2 with his big move to Wichita KS. And we all survived!

I passed the time taking pictures out the window.
I shared a lot of these on Facebook so if you follow me there, sorry.

We went through Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.
1040 miles.
Through tunnels,

over bridges,

We even went through Transylvania.

I was really happy to finally see some fall colors.

It was so very windy. I found bits of cotton that had blown from the fields to the rest area.

Did I mention the wind?

I'm missing my boy.

No more "What's for dinner?" every day at 5:00.
No more empty milk carton.
No more smelly boy funk in my sewing room.

I think I'll be okay.

He found a great little apartment in the historic downtown.
Lots of great antique stores nearby. I'll be back for a visit!

  1. I see that you came thru our tunnel (I think it's our tunnel). Happy for your son and hope he enjoys his new place. You are moving one out and we are moving one in next month.

  2. big hugs for you....I feel for you, my boy will be moving soon and not sure how I will cope...all I know is that I will need lots of big hugs!

  3. did this 10 yrs ago isn't eazy especially if its the baby.......he is still in Kansas /Missouri area married now will be hard all over again when children start coming.....i may have to just move!! anyways its hard for awhile seemed forever but at some point it doesn't hurt so much but u never stop missing them.

  4. I'm still missing my kids although they are all doing
wonderful in their lives... they all live much too far
and it's not fun visiting only once a year now. My grandkids
seem to grow a foot each year. But, that is what it's all
about.. we raise them, then send them on their way!
I'd like to tell you 'it gets better' but it does not!
    Happy Thanksgiving Anita

  7. I am so not ready for my kids to be gone, but it's almost time.

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

  8. Oh, it's so hard when they go.....looks like it was a great trip though!

  9. I'm glad to see you survived the trip. I'll bet it was so hard to drive away...I would've been bawling my eyes out. Your son's apartment building looks sooo great, as do your photos! I love the one of the tunnel. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving. xo
