I’m Dreaming of a White….

no, not Christmas.
Kitchen!

Maybe something like this….

light blue kitchen island

Love the blue island. I don’t have an island but if I did, I’d want it to be a color.

I love how neutral it all is except for the pop of orange. Oh and those pendants!

Blue bead board ceiling! Genius. I could paint my ceiling.
Since it’s one of the few that don’t have popcorn in this house.

I don’t have the original source for this one. But I love the blue backs to the cabinets.
That, I will be doing.

And glass cabinets. I need to put in some glass panels on a few doors to open up the space.

I know I have mentioned painting my kitchen before. They have been bugging me since the day we moved in almost 3 years ago. They are dark and they suck the light out of a room that already doesn’t get a lot of natural light. So they must go.

I even bought a paint sprayer.
I just need to figure out how to use it. But it seems pretty easy.
I’m going to work on priming the bases. It’s been raining so no spraying right now.
Which is why I don’t have the before shots yet either.
I keep forgetting to take them when the sun pops out. But I will.

And one more thing....

How about a GIVEAWAY?

All of you magazine obsessed people will love this one!

  3. All of my houses have had white kitchens! Well, except for the 70s suburban house I grew up in with the blah oak cabinets, the Formica countertops and the faux brick walls! Blech!

  5. I just painted my very dark kitchen cabinets a creamy white, had glass put in four doors, and everytime I look at it I wonder what took me so long. It is the biggest wow-factor this house has ever seen! I am waiting on the wood floors and subway tile to be done and I will show. I am loving it!

  9. That first kitchen makes my heart sing! Oh Anita, I, too have been dreaming of painting my kitchen white for sooo long! I feel a little embarrassed when I go in there each time, like I've let her down! I'll paint mine if you paint yours! Promise!!!

How does a sprayer work? Does paint go other places or is it pretty stable painting?

    Love the photos!

  13. Oh, I love all of these, but I think the one with the dark countertops and subway tile is my favorite. I can't wait to see how your kitchen comes together. Hope you have a nice Easter :)

  14. We are in the midst of finding paint colors for the house, but this time around, I'm going for the professional and having it painted for me. I cannot for the life of me find the buttery yellow I want for the kitchen walls. I wanted to recreate a brochure by a paint company, but when I got the yellow paint sample they had for the cover of the brochure, it was almost NEON on the wall...back to the paint store!

  15. Thanks for your nice comment about my Kitchen! I say go for it! And the BM Cabinet Coat is very low odor or fumes...I wasn't feeling well when I was painting but, I don't remember any odor or very little compared to the oil based paint I used on my island that I did a few months ago. Good Luck!

  16. Good luck with the painting! I recently painted my cabinets and I feel like I am in heaven (compared to the old icky cabinets). You will kick yourself for not having done it sooner! Wish I had bought a sprayer - maybe for the next time.
