My New Toy

It’s so very quiet around here once again now that all my visitors have gone home. I’ve been playing around with my new toy that Santa brought me. I must have been very good this year. He brought me the Canon T2i. It has a fabulous lcd screen that allows half blind people like me to see the picture you are taking. I can even take amazing videos.

I have a lot to learn with this little baby but it will be fun.  I have not used the auto button. Well, maybe once just to see if it worked. But I will not use it again. I will learn to use the manual setting if it kills me. So, I may take a lot of crappy pictures at first. Just bare with me. I have my son and all my wonderful photog friends to guide me. So guide away. I love input. I am going to start with reading this book which came recommended my Maureen @ Cottage 960. She has learned a lot this past year and has really inspired me. You should go visit her flickr stream and see all the talent she has.

I still would like to get a book on the camera itself. Something other then the manual it came with. Tracy @ Tracy’s Trinkets and Treasures recommended the T2i book for Dummies. That sounds fitting for me since I’m so new at this. Tracy is learning her new camera also. She is way ahead of me though. She even started another blog for her photography, Treasured Moments.

On another note. I have been trying to use Live Writer to write my blog posts. I kept hearing how much easier it is. I have windows xp so I don’t know if that makes a difference but the enter or return key seems wonky when I’m on live writer. Like it has a mind of it’s own. It’s fine when I’m writing a paragraph like this but once I start inserting stuff and then hit enter the cursor seems to go where it wants to. Has anyone else had this problem? Mostly my spacing seems off. It’s hard to move my paragraphs around. I can’t just backspace to remove the extra space between the photo and the paragraph. I will keep at it and see if I can work out the kinks. There a lot more positives that out weigh this little quirk.

I have some pesky chores to do around the house today, pay bills and such. Nothing too important ;) Then I can get back to fiddling with my new sidekick.

see ya,
Anita

I am stuck on the Mosaic thing with the Skinny class. I haven't had more time to try and figure it out. Going back to work has made me tired and busy.

  14. Wow, you were good! That's the camera I have too and love it. And sadly I am just now learning the manual mode and we've had it over a year. But I love the manual mode so far!! Have fun!

  15. wooo hooo! Nothing like a new camera. I love the size of the screen. My sister took her first night-time photography class and went to photograph the Golden Gate Bridge. She learned more that one night than in the last 4 years of owning her camera-she is hooked!
enjoy-and I can't wait to see what you produce.

  17. I used Windows Live Writer for some time. But then I got this computer with Windows 7 and I couldn't get it to work again for some reason. So I'm dealing with the pitfalls of Blogger. I love your new toy! You must have been a very good girl! Could you please email me and tell me in easy speak how you number your comments? I've read endless tutorials I've Googled, but none seem to work.

  18. Teach us as you learn, please! Show us all the shots!

I'd love to learn how to take photos properly. I have a list a mile long on what I'd like to learn.

Congrats on your new sidekick!!! You've got some gorgeous landscape around to test it with!

    Have fun!!!!!

  20. I can be of no help to you regarding the Live Writer as I am a technological retard.
I have to say that for once, I come to your blog not leaving wanting to own some beautiful item you are showing. My husband thanks you. :)

  21. Oh, you are going to rock that camera, for sure. Just like eveything else you do when you set your mind to it.
Don't know a thing about Live Writer. I've heard it's fab, but I've never tried it. I compose in MS Word and paste into Blogger, but often I will still have some spacing issues after doing that, and have to try to fix the HTML. That's a nightmare. So, if you figure out a better way, please share that with us.
And thanks for the sweet shout out, bestest bloggy friend.

  23. Came over by way of Brenda at Cozy Little House. You will LOVE Writer once you get used to it. I have Windows XP and that makes no difference as to how Writer works w/it. Everything loads so much faster and easier and you can manipulate things better, too. Love all the fonts and other options. I've used it almost 2 years now. Have fun with your new camera. I'm off to check out your blog. ~ Sue
