Yet again I have about 10 things going on at once. So, why not just mess around with the mantel too. What's one more thing?
I'm really missing my fresh hydrangeas. I hope they come back okay. I want to dry more this year. These got a little squashed.
I took my firescreen and stuck it up on the mantel then put the two arched mirrors together in the middle.
Stuffed some shells, bits of driftwood and a piece of coral in the glass hurricane.
All the different shades in this one bloom makes it so pretty . Especially that little bit of green. I am going to have to find a variety called limelight. I think they are just gorgeous. Maybe I should see what I can order online. I'm so ready for a green yard and flowers to pick. A better spot for growing tomatoes would be good too.
Is it still too early to be thinking about the garden? Does anyone have plans for some changes outdoors this year? I'd love to hear any ideas.

see ya,
LOVE your new header! So pretty & fresh! WonderfulE
ReplyDeleteI really like the firescreen with the arched windows! And I'm really jealous of your good weather, too.
ReplyDeleteWe're going to put in a bigger fire pit this year. I hope to get some benches made to go around it, too. But as far as plants, I don't know. I want to plant a few more trees. I'll see if my one hydrangea survived the winter before I get more.
Have a good weekend, Anita!
Love every single picture. I am drawn to the glass hurricane with the shells and candle. So creative.
ReplyDeleteYour springy mantel looks great. We have got to do something about our backyard this year. The grass has been totally killed out by weeds and grubs. My husband said he is going to make the grass area smaller and the natural area larger. We will see. Sometimes he is all talk.
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks so beautiful! So lovely for spring!
ReplyDeleteAnita, first of all your pictures are beautiful, look at all that wonderful light!! Second, I love your mantel and the hydrangeas are gorgeous! They are one of my favorites! I have one bush and hope to add more this year. My garden/yard needs ALOT of help! I am still in love with your little starfish too! :) It looks very fresh and spring-y! You lucky girl, enjoy some sunshine for me!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour mantle is so pretty. I have the same milk glass vase, the one with the dots and dash look. I love hydrangea they are my favorite flower. I planted about six bushes a few years ago. They have not done well...I think I bought the wrong type for my shady property. We have a lot in common. I'm a new follower.
ReplyDeleteAll of my favorite things! Hydrangeas are definitely one of my favorites. I want to try a new variety in pink. I think I saw them in Country Living mag. I'm drawn to the greens and purples but I need a little pink in my life :) Anyway, I like how the mirror mimics the arches in your firescreen. Love the chippy old painted pieces mixed with the milk glass. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend! ~Michelle :)
Anita your mantel looks GORGEOUS!!! I love how you layered it with the screen and mirrors, and the other accessories are just perfect. I just became your newest follower. Have a great weekend, Martina
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Anita! Love the hydrangeas, my favourite! It's fresh light and very spring like! Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteKim:)
Hi Anita,
ReplyDeletelove your mantel. I find when I've got a lot happening doing something like this de-stresses me. I'm hoping to get a lot more flowers in this year. We'e got some good containers for raised garden beds, I just need to coat them with something to protect them from weathering, and get some soil brought in, our soil isn't great.
Cheers,
Lisa x
looks lovely! i would love to plant some peonies this spring.. they're my fave, and think that even in a rental, worth planting!
ReplyDeleteOh the mantle is so beautiful! What a great idea to dry hydrangeas to have in the winter! I'm using tons of hydrangeas in my wedding this summer, I'll have to dry some afterwards to use for decorations!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the best way to dry them?
Your mantel is gorgeous and reminds me Spring is on the way. I love the firescreen.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
Beautiful mantel! Really love everything about it and your photos are gorgeous!

This is such a pretty post with such lovely pictures. The mantle is great...I would have never thought of using a fire screen that way. I love hydrangeas too and plan on planting a couple more this spring ~ You did a super job on drying them, mine never look that good.(-:
ReplyDeleteMANTEL LOVE!!!!! Hydrangeas are fast becoming some of my favorites too!
ReplyDeleteWeather? Huh? Spring?
High winds, temp dropped 30 degrees over night, snow and blowing drifts...altho, I do believe that Spring is just around the corner!
Lucky YOU!!!!
Have a fantastic Saturday!

Hi Anita, your mantel is so pretty. I really like how you put your screen on top, ingenious!
ReplyDeleteYour firescreen on your mantel is gorgeous! Love the way it looks and so unique.
ReplyDeleteOh your mantle is gorgeous Anita!! I love your firescreen up there!! I am sooo looking forward to spring!!! I am thinking about a fireplace for the backyard patio possibly!! Thanks for sharing at Feathered Nest Friday! :)

I found your blog through funky junk, and I've been browsing for an hour now. We have visited Destin for the last two years and can't wait to be there again in July! Your pictures are beautiful, and your mantel has inspired a redo of my own...
ReplyDeleteI would love a tutorial on drying hydrangea. I have beautiful blooms every yr, but I haven't been successful with drying them.
I am now a follower, so I look forward to many more pics of the Emerald waters...
Your mantle is fabulous, I love all the beachy touches and how lucky you were to have those mirrors that set off the fireplace screen perfectly. Don't you just love it when that happens?
ReplyDeleteYour spring mantel is so gorgeous. I love that you put the firescreen on the mantel. Smart move, so creative. Tell me how you dried the hydrangeas. Mine didn't do too well.
ReplyDeleteI have the limelight hydrangea. Don't know if I spelled it correctly but it really does well in Savannah. It has a more woody structure that Nikko and Never Ending Summer. Limelight held up better in the dry heat of summers here. Limelight blooms profusely. I can't get tomatoes to do well here. When we lived in Atlanta we had beautiful tomatoes but not since we lived here.
Love your spring mantel. That fire screen paired with the mirrors is gorgeous. I love how you say you just paired up the arched mirrors with the screen, ha, as if we all had lovely mirrors like that stored away just waiting for the right time to display them. Those were a real find.
ReplyDeleteI am totally in love with your dried hydrangeas, the colors are gorgeous.
Great photos also, I especially love the first one.
The only big project for me this year is hopefully new windows, and some smallish projects, mostly with a paint brush in my hand.
This is so beautiful! I would like to invite you to share this post on my link party, Masterpiece Monday, at my blog, Boogieboard Cottage. The link will be up all week. I hope you can join in! Have a nice week, Mary :O)
ReplyDeleteAnita, I'm loving the milk glass and hydrangeas. Trish posted about her hydrangeas today and I'm getting spring fever now.

What a beautiful vignette. the colors of the Hydrangeas are so vivid. I am a new follower. Your blog is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAu revoir

Your mantel is gorgeous! I LOVE how you put the screen on TOP of your mantel, too! That was inspired! I also love the hydrangeas, and the sweet starfish! :) The whole arrangement makes me think of spring and summer!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use a fireplace screen like that..., beautiful Hydrangeas. I didn't know that they keep the color like that when dried. I've only seen the neutral ones, maybe with a bit of pink, but that's it. Beautiful vignette altogether!
ReplyDeleteAnita... it's gorgeous! Love it all but the screen makes my heart pitter pat!
ReplyDeleteKendra
Oh yeah, now I remember the mantle! I love that firescreen.
ReplyDeletelove what you did, love the mantle, the costal look and feel of it, you took great photos too! love it! Im not a green thumb but im also trying to grow tomatoes this spring, well hopefully it wont die again and also for the rest of plants that I try to grow :) would love to see what your garden would be like, must be gorgeous just like your home!
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks fabulous! I love the idea of putting the fireplace screen on the mantel.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Saw a photo of your mantel on the Feathered Nest Friday post, and just had to come over and see the rest- so beautiful! I absolutely adore your Gothic fire screen, and the hydrangeas are such a lovely splash of color. Excellent arrangement!
ReplyDeleteYou GO with your power tools! I need to learn, would make my life so much easier!! Those shelves look awesome!
ReplyDeleteLimelight hydrengeas are wonderful. The blooms start a creamy color in early summer. You have to make yourself wait, even though they're gorgeous, they need to mature before you can cut them for drying or they just kind of wilt. Then, they turn that wonderful green color. Oh, and at the end of summer, they turn a lovely rose color. I dry them in each stage and then put them in baskets, mixing the blooms so the different colors are throughout. Dried, they hold their colors for more than a year before fading to a golden-like color.
ReplyDeleteI ordered my limelight hydrengea by mail years ago. It started at 12 to 18 inches and now I try to keep it trimmed to 6 or 7 feet. Plant it where it has lots of room to bush out. Very hardy. I just trimmed it back for the spring and now I'll wait for the blooms this summer.
What a gorgeous post, Anita!! I love your hydrangeas - I have a few too and am hoping they do okay this year too. Hope you're having a lovely week :O)
