Auction Finds

I’m still here. I’m sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. Just been in a January slump. I’m hoping February will be better. Welcome to all the new readers out there!

My friend Tracy is having another photo linky party. This time it’s about macro shots. I don’t have a macro lens but I thought I’d give it my best shot with my 18-55mm. Ha, best shot, get it?

Hubby and I went to an auction over the weekend. I decided to do some close ups of the things we bought.

Let’s see if you can guess what they are. Some are easier then others.

Here’s a hint: the above and below shots go to the same item.

The flower shot I took the other day. It wasn’t the best shot so I played with some textures. Softened it up a bit. I have not had good light to work with lately. Sunshine state? I don’t think so.

I’ll be back. I promise I won’t wait another week. Hope everyone is staying warm with all this crazy weather. I’m going to take a drive to the beach to see if I can get some shots of the waves. They are supposed to get pretty big tonight.

Let’s hear some guesses on what you think I bought.

  3. The first shot is a pitcher, 2nd a porcelain plate perhaps, the last 2 I have no idea. All great shots, but I LOVE the flower shot. It's so soft and pretty. What texture did you use. I like the colors of the inside area and then the soft white petals and background as contrast. Thanks for linking up.

  4. We saw some rough waves at the beach this past Friday or Saturday. It was beautiful to watch from inside the car.

  5. Hi Anita-

We all need a little bloggy break once and a while. It feels good to step away and come back refreshed. I would love to see the shots you take from the beach - Your macro shots came out great. I like the china plate??? Did you use the macro setting on your camera? It would be nice to have the lens someday too.
    My best-

  6. Bring on February! January was blah for me, too. I was just thinking about you. Ummm...1st shot is an Ironstone pitcher, 2nd is a saucer, 3rd is a shelf of some sort, and lastly ...needlework on a pillow. Your floral shot is really crisp and pretty. I like the shadow in the middle of the flower.

Can't wait to see your photos of the beach. It was -19 here this morning. The kids were home from school. Yep, that cold. Brrrr!

    Take care! :)

  7. I think the first one is a pitcher.

    Second looks like a saucer?

Third and fourth, you've got me. I have no idea.

I want to see the whole thing with your snazzy camera, by your next post, Miss.

Oh, and I'm thanking my lucky stars, January is over.

  8. OOOH! post the pictures of the waves!! we went last year to go see the 20+footers and I couldn't get a decent shot. Too much mist, I think.
Then go out and buy a seasonal affect disorder light bulb. All it takes is one day of cold weather to put people like us into hiding...

  9. The first one is a pitcher, the second a plate? Whatever, your photography is beautiful. Thanks for your comment and you are right, Anita: it can definitely take over, along with blogging of course.

  10. Lord it's bad when I forget what I was going to say in the time it takes me to read your comments. And then I got totally distracted by Dwight in the thumbnail.
Anyway, I already know what the items are, I won't spoil it for the others, I'm nice that way. I like your texture work on the flower, nice and subtle.
Hope you get some sun so you can take some pics.
    Sunshine state, bah!

  12. Yeah, I am so glad that January is gone! Although after the foot and a half of snow last night I am pretty sure Spring will not be here in a while! Love your shots and the flower is just beautiful!! Have fun at the beach. The first pic I am guessing a pitcher?

  13. I'm happy January is over too...we are inching our way towards spring. I think the first thing is a pitcher, second a saucer and I have no idea about the last two :)

  14. I'm guessing an ironstone something, and I have no idea what else!

I do love your macro shots.
