I don't think you always have to have a purpose for everything. Sometimes things just call to you and if you really love it, it will find its place in your home. My sister taught me that lesson a long time ago. Older sisters are smart sometimes.
It reminds me of an old treasure chest. You never know. I'm sure it had someone's treasures in it at one time or another.
Not sure if it will get a paint job or not. For now I like it's old crustiness. It's cracked lid. Old rusty hinges and the chain that holds the lid on. Hubby's friend found me a wonderful piece of drift wood this weekend while they were out fishing. He dragged it home for me. Wasn't that nice? It's outside drying out right now. We've had a wet weekend. Perhaps I'll put it in my treasure box!

You inspired me.
ReplyDeleteThat box is just beautiful!
You also said something that is so true- and I regret not doing more of what your sister says, "Sometimes things just call to you and if you really love it, it will find its place in your home."
I overlooked your posts flaws *wink, and only saw the loveliness!
(I wouldn't paint the box).
Blessings to you today!
Our husbands are all the same...they just don't get it! I luv your box and think you should come show it off at my NIFTY THRIFTY TUESDAYS PARTY...hope to see ya there:)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
Hi Anita,
ReplyDeleteThis box is perfect! You're right some special things can just be special, but this is also useful too! Hope you are having a good week
Janice
What a lovely box, it's perfect! THanks for stopping by, love your blog
ReplyDeleteHi Anita,
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat box! Sounds like our hubbies are related! Mine would say the same thing! You will have so much fun with it!
I am thinking all men say the same thing. I know I've heard it more than I care to. I love the box, and I'm sure you'll find many uses for it. That's what I love about things like that. Use it here for awhile, then move it and use it for something else. I don't think I'd paint it either, I like it just the way it is. Cool find.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool old box...chuckling that your hubby knows you so well!
ReplyDeleteI think that box is perfect just the way it is! I love that it's rustic...gives it character. And I totally agree that you should buy things (even if they don't currently have a purpose). It always works out for me that I EVENTUALLY NEED THEM! ;O)
ReplyDeleteWow too cool! I love what you did with it!!

I recently purchased a box similar to this and am on the fence ~ keep it, put it in my booth, paint it or not. Love the way you've dressed it up ~ I am keeping mine for a while!!
ReplyDeleteOoh I love the old box too! I love stuff like this. And yes, I know what you mean when the words are said "And what are you going to do with it?". Be blessed. cindy
ReplyDeleteYou have a husband like that, too?? I came home Saturday with ALOT of great finds, and he said, "Where are you going to put all of those dustcatchers?"!!!!! AAARGH! I almost told him, "A place just came to mind", but, well, that would not have been the right thing to do! (wink!) (I left the link to my goodie finds!)
ReplyDeleteI love your little box, and I bet it has found a good home with you. I would leave it like is, because, like husbands, sometimes you should love things just as they are!

This box is wonderful. A great find.
ReplyDeleteThat's very nice. I wouldn't do anything with it either! It already has that great "vintage" or just "antique" feel to it.
ReplyDeleteI'd love for you to check out my blog for a CSN give away! Have a wonderful day! alittleknickknack.blogspot.com
I'm soooo HAPPY to see you at NTT:)

Hi Anita,
ReplyDeleteApparently, you sent a response to me, via e-mail, to my comment above, but my spamblocker deleted it b/c it was blocking gmail for some reason. If you want to re-send it, I'll respond. I didn't want you to think I was rude & blowing you off. Thx.

Love your treasure box. You fixed it up just wonderfully. I'm glad you didn't pass it up.
ReplyDeletePartying with you tonight.
You managed to make an old box look like a high end glamorous backdrop. Stunning! That is one great box to play with! Nice find!
