Guest Posting at Meridian Road.

I’m over at Suzanne’s place today.
Suzanne has the best sense of humor. We would get along so well.
I hope that one day we can get together for shop shopping and some laughs.

So come by Meridian Road and see what I’m up to.

I have a little how-to on some glowing decorations for Halloween or any holiday.

Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap

Over the summer my friend Kat from The Kat Eye View was putting together something called Liberate Your Art a postcard swap. We each mailed her 5 postcards of our art and she divvied them up and we each got 5 back in return. Well 6 really because she sent out one of her own.

And she did all this just after moving back to the US from Italy.

1020 pieces of art
170 participants
37 US states
13 countries
2 homes
1 swap

AMAZING!!

It was so much fun to get something in the mail other then bills or junk.

The one on the left came from Rosie @ Rosie’s World. Her pink tulips are just so gorgeous.
They certainly brightened my day. I would love to have some growing in my yard.

On the right is one from Kelly @ I Need To Color. It is titled “Mackenzie’s Flowers”.
I’m not sure how she did it but the colors are just so pretty.
Delicate little flowers with punches of color.

postcards2_edited-1

The picture of the sweet older couple was taken in Krakow Poland by Alison of My Life-An Adventure. Such soft and lovely colors. The light fog gives it a mysterious feel.
I love how they are walking arm in arm.

On the right is a pen and watercolor done by Lea. She is at The Beaufort Art Center. It's a great combination of the two mediums. Such detail in the pen and beautiful colors with the paint.
She must have quite the steady hand.

The YES is an original piece of art created by Tia who blogs @ The Inspired Life.
This was her first piece big piece that she sold and it launch her YES project.
It’s a wonderful piece full of inspiring words.
She’s wanting to spread the word about saying yes to the things that you desire.

And last is my card from Kat herself!

It’s the wonderful photo of a Vespa that she took in Italy. I have always loved this shot.
Vespas are seen all over Italy. I’ve never driven one but maybe some day.
It’s also a great reminder of the wonderful trip we made for our huge family reunion.
And I love the red!

I hope everyone got my emails but let me just say thanks again just in case. :)

And a huge THANKS to Kat for doing all this work. What a fantastic job you did!

I hope she does it again next year.
Think you’ll join us?

Guesting over at Sense and Simplicity

I'm just getting back from Atlanta and I'm heading to Canada!

I'll be over at Sense and Simplicity while Grace is in Bangladesh!

You might have seen her button over there on my sidebar.
She is in Bangladesh with her friend Kim teaching in a Speech Therapy program.

They are both Speech-Language Pathologists and are offering their collective wealth of expertise to help train some of the first Speech Therapists in Bangladesh and to supervise student placements.

I think that is so great!
I hope you'll come by and say HI.

I'll have the giveaway up soon.
Just need to get rid of all this jet lag ;)

Project Reveal and Winners

Thanks so much to all of you who took the time to come by and celebrate with me, Suzanne and Maureen. It’s been a lot of fun this past year. I look forward to another year and getting to know more of you.

Well there is no beating around the bush since you can see the picture. Yes I did C. I tell you what, some of you should be PI’s. You have some great detective skills. There were 15 correct guesses. That’s almost half of you. Some recognized the bead board. Some the ribbon. Well done ladies, well done.

shelf 2

Here is what it looked like before. Plain and beat up. I added the bead board. Drilled a hole for the dowel and slipped on some spools of thread on the ends. It will be going in the sewing room. I will show that to you another day. Let’s get to it.

shelf before

So out of the 15 correct guesses my winner is:

blogiversary winner
And the 13th person that guessed correctly is:

Congrats Yanet!

For the grand prize of the Home Depot gift card this is what we did.
Maureen was A with 38 comments, Suzanne B with 33 comments and I was C with 33 comments. So we added them up in that order. And the random winner for this group is:

grand prize winner

And the 79th person is:

Congrats to Stacey!

Did you guess Suzanne's and Maureen's projects correctly? Go over there and see who won. Yanet and Stacey, please send me an email with your info so I can get your prizes to you.

Hope everyone has a great week. :)

It’s a Blogiversary Celebration!

striped party button_edited-1

Could it really be a year already? Well it’s actually been over a year. April was just a busy month for all of us.

Maureen, Suzanne and I all started our blogs within the same week. We were some of the first to comment on each others blogs. I have loved getting to know the two of them.  We have always said we’d love to be able to shop and just hang out with each other because we’d get along so well. Both are extremely talented and have a great sense of humor. We have so much in common.

We love all that is old, chippy and just a little bit different. A lot of people would look at the stuff we pick up and scratch their heads. That is what I love about blogging. I have found so many of you out there love the just a bit different too! It is so great to make a connection with others that just get it. Our families might not always get us but I can always count on you guys to get it.

So we decided to celebrate together with. We thought it would be fun to see if you can guess which blogger did which project. So put your thinking caps on or rub that lucky rabbits foot.

We’re making it simple. All you have to do is leave one comment on each blog. Leave me a comment and tell me which project you think I made. Then go visit Suzanne @ Meridian Road and Maureen @ Cottage 960 and let each of them know which project you think that they made.

 Blog Collage2

Then each blog will pick a random winner from those that guessed correctly. We’ll wrap it up on Sunday night 6pm central and announce the winners on Monday May 16th. What will you win you ask? Here is what you will win from Going a little Coastal.

A vintage grain sack, a silver plate creamer, a cute cut glass tray, 2 lavender filled sachets and a German glass glitter banner.

But wait there’s more!

We won’t leave you out if you are a sucky guesser. We will also pick a random winner from everyone that guesses. That person will win a $30 gift card to Home Depot. So you can start on a project of your own.
image
I told you that it would be easy! Just make sure that we can access your profile or that you leave us your email in your comment. Otherwise we can’t find you and someone else will win.

Thank you all that come to this little blog and leave such great comments. Comments that both make me laugh and that make my heart swell.

Now go skidattle and visit Meridian Road and Cottage 960 and pin the project to the blogger. Don’t forget to comment here first though :)

A Thank You and A Giveaway

I want to thank everyone for all the wonderful comments on the new look of my blog and banner. I’m glad everyone likes it. I needed a bit of color. I think everyone is ready for Spring.

I have been working on my photography and texture skills. I just started to contribute to the Inspiration Studio flickr pool. It’s was hard for me to find the confidence to post photos in any of the flickr pools. I just figured I had to jump in ( jump in the pool). The Inspiration Studio is a blog that Kim Klassen began and she has many contributors with individual creative talents. So when I heard that Jamie chose one of my shots to use in her recent post I was absolutely thrilled. That’s it above and you can see it here at the i-studio. Jamie blogs at Lyrical Journey and she is also a contributor over at the Inspiration Studio where she puts together wonderful sound tracks. So if you are in need of a little inspiration then head over and check out the i-studio and Lyrical Journey. Lots of great talent and creativity! Thank you Jamie for the little boost I needed.

Speaking of jumping in. My friend Maureen over at Cottage 960 is having a giveaway. She is raising money for the Special Olympics of Illinois. That crazy girl is going to do a polar plunge! Brrrrrr! You need to hop on over there and check out the cute camera strap she made. She will make you one too if you win. In the colors you’d like. Because she’s nice like that. Click on the button below to read more about it.

Oh and I have a question to those of you who use Live Writer. I just updated my theme so that my new template would be recognized. But now my preview mode is not working. If you know of a solution to this I’d be grateful. I posted the question on their forum but nothing yet. I googled it for hours last night and nothing. I was shocked. Google usually has the answer for anything.

I need to get back to working on my chandelier. It’s going silver today. I’ve put it off long enough.

Time to Lay it on the Line

bold

Gail @My Repurposed Life and MeganDVD @ Beauty in the Attempt are hosting “The Bold and the Beautiful-your blog reviewed.”

I am in need of some blog sprucing up and I thought why not get some opinions before I dive into the craziness of html. Before I’m up until 2am trying to find the right code to make those cute little tabs. Before my neck tenses up and my eyes are blood red.

I’d love to know how you feel about my photos, font, layout or whatever else you think could use some oomf. And to those who hang around here, I’d like to know about my content. Is it all over the place? I’d appreciate your opinion.

There are some things that I have in mind to change. But I’m not telling you. I would like you to tell me. I love getting constructive criticism. Kind yet sincere. Gentle yet straightforward. Considerate yet honest. So go for it. I can take it. *snif*

What a Difference 3 Days Make

The sunshine state? I think not. Not lately anyway. As we drove over the bridge to try to get some shots of the incoming storm, the fog started rolling in.
 bridge2

We got to the beach just as some kids were running to the water with their surfboards. It was still early and the waves were still building.  Compared to other coasts I’m sure our gulf coast waves look laughable.

surfer dock2 copy

Let’s not forget safety first. Because we do have one mean undertow.

sign2

I was getting frustrated when my lens kept fogging up from all the mist. My hair was not enjoying it either. I hung around to see if the kids would get up. He did for a bit and I got this blurry shot.

surfer2

Now just a mere 3 days ago we had glorious weather. It was still windy and chilly but the sun was actually out and shining.  We stopped at the beach after the auction for a few photos.

Sky2

It was a bit on the hazy side but it gave a nice pink hue in the distance. The waves were light and frothy.

Come back sun.

I would like to thank Tammy Lee for passing this sweet award on to me the other day. Tammy blogs over at Bliss and Folly and she is also one of the nine muses over at Mortal Muses. You have to stop by and see her adorable puppies. They will melt your heart. Both are wonderful blogs to visit for gorgeous photography and inspiration to get your creative juices flowing. What a bunch of talented women they all are. I am still in the early learning stages of my photography but I hope that I will be able to produce images as breath taking as they can. I recently did a post on oh so fascinating facts about myself so I won’t do a repeat. You can find them here if you happened to miss it. Thanks again Tammy. :)

Thank You Grace!

I got a surprise in the mail the other day. I won this wonderful magazine a few weeks ago from Grace over at Sense and Simplicity. I had forgotten all about it. What a treat to receive it instead of all the junk mail that usually clutters my box.

I'll be spending the evening browsing through all of these beautiful pages.  Thanks so much Grace. I am such a magazineaholic and I just love it. If you haven't been over to Grace's blog you should stop by and visit. Lots of wonderful inspiration over there. Lots of beautiful photographs too.

She is planning a trip with her friend Kim to go to Bangladesh this summer. They are both Speech-Language Pathologists and are going over there to teach in a Speech Therapy program.  She is selling some of her wonderful photographs to help raise money for their trip. She has a button on her sidebar that shows all of her wonderful pictures. I'll have it on my sidebar as well. I hope you will take a few minutes and check it all out.

I will leave you with some wonderful shots of my new magazine.

Look at that tree!

see ya later,
