The Christmas Decorating Has Begun

Just so you all know, I have started decorating. I got out all of my Christmas dishes and did a swap out in my hutch.

These are the dishes I started collecting when I lived in Germany. We went to the actual Waechtersbach factory and I bought most of them there. Back then the exchange rate was superb so I got them really really cheap. I won't tell you how cheap because you would hate me. Okay, truthfully I don't remember, but I do know it was cheap. Cheaper then some of the pieces I got at Tj Maxx.

This is the cabinet I had planned on painting so lets us turn on our imaginations and picture it a creamy white with the bead board to match the walls. Isn't it lovely?

My mom brought this ornament back from her recent trip to Italy. I just love it. I tied a ribbon to it and hot glued the ribbon to the inside of the cloche so that it is suspended. It needs a little snow for the bottom don't you think?

The glasses were found at the Mikasa outlet years ago. Then I found more at Tuesday Morning. I really love them. I have another box of them down below.

I still have to go get some greens from the store. I just don't have a lot of pretty evergreens outside. I have tons of azaleas though. So, I will fill in spots later when I can clip some from our tree which we need to go buy. It used to be a big family event to the tree farm. Picking out just the right one. Driving everyone nuts because I couldn't decide. Everyone freezing. Kids bickering. Good times. Now it's just a drive to Home Depot. Somehow it's not the same.

It's Good to Friend Home Depot

Thanks Gail of My Repurposed Life for giving me a heads up about "liking" Home Depot on facebook. I was so jealous of Gail getting this great deal on all of these paint samples from Martha Stewart for only $4 a couple of weeks ago. I'm sort of addicted to those little pots of paint. Fourteen of her wonderful new colors. Martha really does know her paint colors.

Anyway, I was on facebook this morning and saw that another offer was coming up. Not knowing what it would be you just sort of have to hang around to get it. They give you a hint and then later it will pop up.  So, finally it comes up and its for this grill set for $5. No shipping, just tax. I was happy but not really thrilled. I'll be honest, I was wanting some paint or a power tool.

But people were talking about all the great stuff they had bought in the past. Like a set of 4 patio chairs for $10! So, I hung around a little longer while I washed some sheets. Kept hitting refresh on my browser and low and behold the paint comes up again!

Yup, I snagged me some Martha paint. I'm happy now. It doesn't take much to make me happy. Still waiting on some power tools. A paint sprayer perhaps. There should be another exclusive up today. Love shopping in my pj's.

I highly recommend being their friend and seeing what deals you can snag. No, I'm not being paid by Home Depot for saying this. Though wouldn't that be nice :)  Are you out there listening Home Depot?

Frosty or Gourdy?

I have said before how it's been hard to decorate for Christmas when it was still Fall around here. Our trees are just now starting to get some color.

I did manage to put away all those Fall decorations that were laid out all over my kitchen table. But I had these two cute little pumpkins that looked as good as the day I bought them.

the one on the left is fake, I needed a 3rd

I was talking with my friend Kolein over at Kitchen Table Productions. That girl can make me laugh. I love it when she makes videos. You may have seen her over at Funky Junk Interiors as she often makes appearances there. We were commiserating how things seem so rushed and we both had pumpkins still sitting around. I jokingly said something about making a little snowman out of mine. She said "I dare ya!". Well, that's all it took. I said why not, it's not like I have anything else to do. So, avoidance reared it's ugly head once again and I tackle something not on my to do list. Shocking I know.

I haven't done crafty stuff in quite awhile. Can ya tell? I wasn't sure what the heck I was doing. But it wasn't like I had to buy anything to do it.

Sort of that deer in headlights look.

Darn those allergies. Or ummm, glue sticks.

So there you have it. I owed Kolein a laugh or two. So, this is for you my friend. Hope it puts a smile on your face today.

Looks Like Summer To Me

Look who is enjoying the cooler weather.

When I let Henry out this morning there it was.  Sitting in the corner soaking up the sun. It's hot pink petals almost screaming at me, take my picture!

So I did.

Then I started fooling around with photo shop and textures. This is what I do when I have a million things to do. I ignore it all and do something else completely. I need to work on that little problem.

This one I made for my friend Maureen over at Cottage 960. We spend way too many late nights chatting back and forth. She has a thing for purple. Among other things. But we won't go there. She has a flikr group called Happy Purple Tuesday. You can stop by and share photos. I have had nothing purple to share with her and her flickr group. So I just created one. Okay so I'm a cheater. I'll work on that little problem too. I promise.
