Laundry Room Redo

I didn’t mean to leave you hanging with my bit of deconstruction the other day. There were some good guesses. Suzanne came closest when she said shower curtain. Well, it’s a curtain of sorts.

I gave it a weathered paint job with some gray, white and black paint and used it for my valance in my laundry room. I like the driftwood look that it has now.

Let me refresh your memory a bit on my laundry room. The before.

And here it is now.  For those who are new here you may notice that there is now a bathroom instead of a closet. You can read about how that came about here. And get a better view of it. Best thing we could have done. Now we have a guest bath on the main floor and it’s right next to the pool.

The laundry got painted the with leftover paint from the bathroom. The fabric, yellow trim and rope I already had. I just had to get the grommets for the top. The rope actually came from a hammock that fell apart. I saved it because I wanted to try to make the monkey’s fist knot like Suzanne of Meridian Road did. I am still going to try it.

The cabinet I had too, I just added some fabric behind the glass to hide all my cleaning stuff.

The bell I bought last summer on clearance and had set it aside. I knew I wanted to put it in here. I can’t hammer anything into that far wall due to the pocket door. So I needed something light that could hang from a command hook. I found the shell/driftwood thing (I don’t know what to call it) at TJ Maxx. I just need to hide the hook a bit.

The yellow shelves fit the wall nicely. I need to add some containers to hold some sun block and other things. Right now I filled the bucket with goggles and sunglasses. We always have to have spare sunglasses for the boat.

The doors still need to be painted. It was hard enough painting the trim. And the new laundry room door make such a huge difference. You can see a bit of the old one in the before shot. With having 4 doors in here they will all be white. BUT the garage side of the garage door will be a color.

So there you have it. My lighter and brighter laundry room. It is such a tight spot and it's the entry we use most. I'm so glad it is finished and nicer to look at. Now I have to do laundry before I start hearing, I don’t have any underwear, and they go commando.

  15. I just love how you did your valance, it turned out great!

As for hiding the hook — I have several beachy things I've hung with nails and I cover them up by simply gluing a small shell or sand dollar to it. Easy and adds to the overall theme.

If I had a laundry room as lovely as yours, I'd probably be able to keep up with my wash. Just fabulous!
