Spring Mantel

I’m working on prepping the kitchen today. Such a tedious job.
Taking downing and cleaning all the cabinets. I just have to have the vision of a brighter kitchen in my mind to get through all the boring prep stuff.

But I did take a few minutes to change up the mantel in the living room
And I do mean just a few minutes.

The mirrors were there already.

A friend of mine works at Tuesday Morning and she picked up this wire pot holder.
Isn’t it cute? I know there are not any fleurs in them but I like the green for spring.

I cut a couple of branches from the philodendron that is out by the pool give it some height.

I filled the vase with some shells to hold them in place.

And that is about it.

Spring has sprung on my mantel.
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Oh, still planning a giveaway.
Figured I'd wait until next week since everyone is busy with the holiday weekend.

 Happy Easter!

In the Garden

We are still working on the yard around here. The dogwoods are looking beautiful and the azaleas are beginning to bloom. I just want to keep the color going because I know these spring bloomers won’t last long. Well, some of the azaleas do repeat bloom around here. They are mostly out front so I only see them when I’m coming or going.

It was not easy to get a shot of this fat little guy buzzing around me.

I am still dreaming of drifts of flowers along the back fence. Flowers to cut and bring inside. Flowers to brighten the yard. Flowers like these.

image No idea who’s yard this is, found it on pinterest. I just love arbors.

These next few shots I found at a site called Secret Garden Landscaping. Is this not the happiest looking garden you ever saw? That roof looks like it's planted.

I love those yellow chairs. Looks like I need to get out more of that yellow paint. Something is going yellow real soon.

We have never lived in a house long enough to get that established garden look. That doesn’t happen over night. I try to find fast growers and long lasting color. I prefer perennials but annuals give you color faster. So I’ll use both. Fill in with some large rocks and some worn rustic pieces, maybe add some large pots too for different heights. I can’t wait to get some color going in the back yard! Who's up for some dirt digging? This is going to be a big job.

It's Feeling Like Spring

Hello everyone. Hope you all are enjoying the wonderful weather. Well, those that are having it. Not to rub it in if you not.

Yet again I have about 10 things going on at once. So, why not just mess around with the mantel too. What's one more thing?

I'm really missing my fresh hydrangeas. I hope they come back okay. I want to dry more this year. These got a little squashed.

I took my firescreen and stuck it up on the mantel then put the two arched mirrors together in the middle.

Stuffed some shells, bits of driftwood and a piece of coral in the glass hurricane.

All the different shades in this one bloom makes it so pretty . Especially that little bit of green. I am going to have to find a variety called limelight. I think they are just gorgeous.  Maybe I should see what I can order online. I'm so ready for a green yard and flowers to pick. A better spot for growing tomatoes would be good too.

Is it still too early to be thinking about the garden? Does anyone have plans  for some changes outdoors this year? I'd love to hear any ideas.
