Silver and Glass Finds

I haven't been doing a lot of thrift store shopping. I'm trying not to buy too many more small items. I always have my eyes peeled for furniture. But I came across this cute little creamer and sugar. There was also a coffee pot but the lid was broken so I left it behind.

They have some cute little flower details on them. They make great vases for a single hydrangea bloom. Fills it out like its a mini bouquet.

I add them to my list for my not yet Etsy shop.  As much as I love to polish silver I think I might keep it tarnished. What do you think for selling purposes?

Then I came across these old bottles. Two are old whiskey pints with old metal caps. The brown one has some pretty embossing on it.  I'm not sure what the other was for but I liked the shape of it.  The brown one still needs to be cleaned.

Both of the whiskey pints have a warning on it. It says: federal law forbids sale or reuse of this bottle. I am living on the edge people.

Industrial Bits

I am joining Margo over at Margo's Junkin Journal. She's having an industrial chic party. I would really love to have more. I would love to have a old metal medical cabinet. I am constantly on the look out for one. I just don't come across much of it around here.

My shoe forms (or are they stretchers) that my son got me as a Christmas gift last year. I love that he took the time to go out and find something different for me. The old wooden level is from my father's garage. I recently grabbed when I went to visit my mom.

I have 3 metal trays which I love to use to layer things. The green round one is my favorite but I love the two white ones too. I think they look good mixed in with the silver.

I found this metal cage light at a thrift store. I don't have anything to wire it up with yet so I used it on top of a candle stick for now.

Do you love the look of industrial junk in your home? It blends in quite well with a lot of decor. You should stop by and get some great ideas.

Fall Junk

I had sweatpants on this morning. That's a good sign right? Fall is coming. Never mind I'm sweating now and the AC has kicked on. It was cool ish this morning and I'll take it.

I dragged out my Fall boxes. I wanted to work with my junk too so that I could join up with Donna. She's having a junk vignette link up. Only I am bugged by the word vignette. I don't know why. Some words just bug me.  I will just call them my arrangements.  I wish I had gotten around to painting this table. I'm making a mental note to do that. I do like the rusty metal mixed with the tarnished silver.

This is not of the rusty junk variety but they are unpolished and left in their old tarnished state.

Off to work on my mantel. I am trying to bring in Fall yet still keep things light. I don't want to over do it. I might need to get out the paint.

EDIT:  I was not too thrilled with the look of the sofa table so I did a little do-over. It's allowed. You can see it here. I'm liking it better now. Thanks!

Silver and White Treasures

Is everyone having a crazy week or is it just me? I can't believe it's September already. I am feeling quite behind on so many things so I'm trying to play catch up. I would like to thank my new followers for joining along. I really appreciate the time you all take to leave your comments. It means a lot to me.

I did take some time to hit an estate sale yesterday and came home with these two little gems.

I love these tall silver candy dishes. Of course you can put whatever you like in them. They look pretty with a floating flower in them. I really liked all the engraving on this one. I thought it was so pretty.

The bowl part was already pretty shiny. I just had to clean a few big black spots underneath. I didn't clean it a whole lot. I like it a bit tarnished looking.

This little tureen was so cute that I had to get it. I thought it would be good for gravies or cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving. There was a big one too but it was priced a little high. I wish I had the time to go back today to get it at a discount.

I may try the recipe to brighten up ironstone on the ladle as it has some stains on the backside. Otherwise it was in good shape.

I hope you all have a great weekend. I'm hoping for some cooler weather soon. I can't seem to get in the mood to drag out my Fall stuff just yet. I don't want to let go of summer.

Treasure Hunting

I haven't gotten around to showing you my latest finds from this past weekend. First stop was an estate sale. I could easily spend over an hour at some of these. I never give my self enough time too look at things like books. I only came out with two things. There were some white tureens I wish I had gotten. I don't really have room for them but perhaps I could have resold them. My thinking gets clouded in these situations a lot. I have to be more clear headed next time.

The footed silverplate dish was really dirty and when I cleaned it up it was pretty scratched up. But that is hidden when I put my sea glass in it. I liked all the details. The vase was hard to photograph but it is etched and has a ruffled rim. The bottom is actually sterling and it came with that ceramic rose in it. I didn't want the rose but for $1 I got the rose and the vase. The base still needs a bit of a cleaning.

We then went to a garage sale. Now, I've seen the signs for this sale before but I never seemed to make it over there. They have them twice a month and the money goes to the Covenent House which is a Hospice center. Hospice workers are angels and I felt like I had to get something!

I came home with this blue vase from Target. Which turned out to have some blue missing. The white mini bundt pan which is marked Princess House. I've heard of them, but know nothing of them. It was only $1. And it happens to match my Pottery Barn cake dish to a T. And my favorite find of the day was this small white bowl for .10. It's from WWII. Stamped  US Army Medical Department. I just fell in love with it.

This will be my newest quest. I must find more! We were Air Force not Army but that's okay. I'll even buy some from the Navy. I will be sure to go twice a month now to that Hospice garage sale. Looks like they will have some good stuff in the future. You never know. I just think of it as giving a donation.

I will be linking up to Southern Hospitality's Thrifty Treasures  and Coastal Charms's Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays

A Cottage Charm Giveaway!

We have a winner!! I'm so excited. I don't know why, I didn't win. But Chris and Stephanie did!  Please drop me an email with your information. I can't find an email for you guys. Thanks so much for taking the time to visit. Hope you will come back to see what is going on.

I swear, I am always the last girl to the party. I recently found out about this major giveaway over at Twice Remembered. Kim is having her annual Cottage Charm Giveaway. It's happening the whole month of May. Okay, so there are only a few days left. Better late than never I guess. Here is the bounty that I have for you. I wanted to include things that represent me and yet appeal to many.

There is a 63" tie up shade in a neutral ivory sailcloth that you can dress up if you wish.

A sweet little wall plaque

Two small topiary wall hangings

A milkglass dish filled with an assortment of shells.

A small silverplated dish. Love the bottom of the milk glass.

~Rules Schmules~

I am told there should be rules. Hmmm, well, leave me a comment to let me know you would like to be entered in my very first giveaway. Please leave your email address if you do not have a blog so I can get in touch with you. Take a look around and if you like what you see and wish to hang around more than feel free to follow. Just leave another comment and let me know and you will get another chance. But it's okay if you don't, I will still like you.

If I can figure out this random generator thingy I will use that. Otherwise you are all going into a basket, so for crying out loud try to get along. And I will have my moody teenage son pick the winner. Lucky you :)

Unfortunately I am going to have to limit it to the US and Canada since shipping is so high and I am not a gozillionaire. Sorry about that.
